7th International Symposium on Defect and Material Mechanics

September 14-17, 2015
Bremen, Germany

Welcome to the ISDMM15

ISDMM15 is the seventh international meeting devoted to Mechanics of Material Forces, following the workshops held at Kaiserslautern (2003), Symi (2005), Aussois (2007), Trento (2009), Seville (2011) and Nantes (2013). It will be held in the city of Bremen, Germany, from September 14th to September 17th, 2015.

Aim of the Symposium

The symposium is intended to bring together researchers in the areas of the mechanics of defects (cracks, dislocations, inclusions, precipitates, phase boundaries...) and the material (configurational) mechanics in the sense of Eshelby, as a rational framework for the description of driving forces on evolving inhomogeneities and structural changes in continua. Important developments in Configurational Mechanics have been performed in the last years and the symposium aims at promoting scientific  exchanges between researchers in the field.

Topics

  • material forces on defects
  • kinetics of defects
  • morphology changes
  • micromechanics
  • energy-momentum tensors
  • numerical modelling
  • conservation laws
  • energy release rates
  • duality of direct - inverse motion
